The Vermont 5 Challenge is a hiking challenge in Vermont that consists of the five highest peaks in Vermont. While these mountains may not be as tall as some of the famous peaks in other parts of the United States, they still offer challenging and rewarding hiking experiences. No matter when you complete these peaks there's no designated start date, making it a timeless endeavor!

Mount Mansfield
Located in Underhill, VT Mansfield is the highest peak in Vermont, with an elevation of 4,393 feet (1,339 meters). When the mountain is viewed from the East or West the mountain creates an elongated human profile with distinct facial features. This includes the Forehead (3,900'), the Nose (4064'), the Upper Lip (3964'), the Lower Lip (4120') the Chin (Mount Mansfield 4393'), and Adam's Apple (4120')

Killington
Located in Mendon, VT Killington is the 2nd tallest peak at 4,236 feet. This mountain is also a popular ski resort.
A popular route up this peak is the 7 mile Bucklin Trail. This trail starts off flat but becomes quite steep after 2 miles. You gain about 2500 feet of elevation during this hike.

Camel's Hump
Located in Huntington, VT Camel's Hump stands at 4,083 feet. This peak is tied with Mount Ellen for the third tallest in Vermont. It is perhaps the state's most recognized mountain for its distinct rocky profile and camel-like shape.
A popular trail to the summit is Burrows trail, which is moderately challenging. It is 5.4 miles and about 2185 feet of elevation gain.

Mount Ellen
Located in Warren, VT Mount Ellen has an elevation of 4,083 feet. Together with Lincoln Peak to the south, and Mount Ellen create the Sugarbush ski resort area.
A route to the summit is the Jerusalem Trail to the Long Trail. The route is about 7.7 miles and 2444 feet of elevation gain.

Mount Abraham
Located in Lincoln, VT, Mount Abraham stands at 4,006 feet. This is the fifth-highest peak in Vermont. It is commonly hiked with Mount Ellen.
A popular route to the summit is from Battell Trail to Long Trail. This route is roughly 5.8 miles and 2500 feet of elevation gain.
